Joanne Zimmerman Kelley, 89, of Cadiz died in her home Wednesday, Sept. 30. She was born July 19, 1926, in Dennison, Ohio, a daughter of the late Theodore W. and Josephine West Zimmerman.
Mrs. Kelley was baptized 60 years ago, as one of Jehovah’s Witnesses, attending faithfully with her family. She loved reading and speaking to others about the Bible. She loved sharing and being with her family enjoying picnics, making homemade noodles and baking carrot cakes. Her one passion was being with her husband of 60 years, flea marketing, taking trips to Florida and Texas. You could always find her working in her flower garden or yard, along with her kittens. In her earlier years, she marched in the Cadiz High School Band playing the trombone. She attended the Willoughby Girls School in Willoughby, Ohio. She was a former employee of the Scio Pottery, and “Rosie the Riveter” for Tome Motors in Cleveland during WWII.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Archie R. Kelley 2004, and her sister Marjorie Baronowski.
Surviving are two daughters. Patricia (William) Brown, with whom she resided and Brenda (Frank) Collins of Coshocton; and a son Dennis (Pauline) Kelley of Kentucky; ten grandchildren and several great grandchildren; a sister, Roberta (Don) Smith of Indiana, and several cousins.
A memorial service will be held Sat. Oct. 10, at 1, p.m. at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses, 82440 Cadiz-Jewett RD., Cadiz, Ohio with Rudy Puskarich officiating. Private interment will be held in Holly Memorial Gardens, Pleasant Grove.
