James Ross Hoagland, 72, of New Philadelphia, died Tuesday, Oct. 27, at Community Hospice House in New Philadelphia, Ohio.
A son of the late Marion E. and Wilma J. (Nailer) Hoagland, James was born Nov. 27, 1942 in Cadiz, Ohio.
James enjoyed motorcycles, listening to the sound of fiddles and playing the violin.
He was active in various lodges including Grand Chapter of Ohio Order of the Eastern Star, Harrison Lodge #219, Valley of Steubenville Ancient Accepted Scottish Rite 32 degree, High Priest of Chapter #171 Royal Arch Masons of Ohio, York Rite, Lions Club, and the Presbyterian Church.
James is survived by his wife Patricia (Walker) Hoagland, whom he married in 1961; his son Marvin Hoagland of Cadiz; his daughter Tresa Patterson of New Philadelphia; four grandchildren, Craig and Anthony Hoagland of Cadiz, Lerissa Patterson and Brittany Emert of New Philadelphia; great grandchildren, Isabella, Aalley, Avryonna, Nikya, Zeldon, and Kyslen; and brother, Earl (Arlene) Hoagland Jr. of New Philadelphia.
In addition to his parents, James was preceded in death by a great grandchild Leeander; brothers, Francis, Albert, and Randy Hoagland; and sister, Debra Hoagland.
In keeping with James’ wishes, there will be no calling hours or services, and cremation will take place through the care of the Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home & Crematory in New Philadelphia.
