Helen Pettay Harrah, 97, of Glendale, Arizona, formerly of Cadiz and Canton Ohio, died Saturday, Dec. 12, at the Hospice Sanctuary at Palso Highland in Phoenix, Arizona.
She was born Jan. 17, 1918 in Cadiz, Ohio, a daughter of the late Brice and Effie Ice Pettay. Mrs. Harrah began her career as a school teacher at Ourant School in Harrison County before moving to Canton, Ohio. She was a member of various Presbyterian Churches wherever she lived and was active in church groups, garden and book clubs and retired teachers organizations.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Kenny Pettay and a sister, Evelyn Lodge. Surviving are her daughter, Barbara (Peter) Huegel of Glendale, Ariz.; two grandchildren, Melanie (Daniel) Lopez of Eagle River, Alaska and Peter Huegel of Phoenix, Ariz.; two great grandchildren, Elyse and Daniel Lopez; and several nieces and nephews. Friends may call Saturday, Dec. 19 from 12 p.m. until time of service at 1:00 p.m. at Clark-Kirkland Funeral Home, Cadiz. Sister Cindy Pettay will officiate.
