Janice Ann Dickey, devoted wife and loving mother, entered into eternal rest on Jan. 22, at Hospice of Charleston.

Janice was born in Tuscarawas, Ohio, in 1929, worked in a local pottery, and graduated from nearby Scio High School where she was a cheerleader. Strong and spirited, she married her sweetheart and together they raised four children on a journey that took them from Ohio to Indiana, New Jersey, Connecticut and South Carolina. In her leisure time, she enjoyed playing cards with friends, bowling and gardening. In her advanced years, she enjoyed reading, craft making, cross-stitch, playing games with family, golfing with her husband, watching football and baking—her specialties were blueberry crumb cake, cheesecake and cookies. She was preceded in death by her husband of 64 years, Harold Eugene “Gene” Dickey.

She is survived by her son, Michael and daughter-in-law, Cindi; her son, Terry; her daughter, Leanne and son-in-law, George; her son, Chris and daughter-in-law, Mary; her grandchildren, Shaun, Lance, Amanda, Kyle, Matthew, Natalie, Nicole, Alicia, Kaitlin, Ryan, James, and Bobby; her great-grandchildren Ethan, Adelyn and Dylan; and her sister-in-law, Ruth.

A graveside service will be held at Dorchester Memory Gardens, 11000 Dorchester Road, Summerville on Saturday, Jan. 30, at 1 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the Peace Lutheran Church, 8315 Dorchester Road, North Charleston, SC 29418 or Hospice of Charleston, 676 Wando Park Blvd., Mt. Pleasant, SC 29464.
