Richard “Dick” Jay McCoy, 63, passed away Friday, March 11, after a year-long

battle with a respiratory illness. Dick McCoy was at the Cleveland Clinic with his wife when he passed on Friday night. Dick was born in Alexandria, Virginia, March 7, 1953 to  “Jack” John McCoy of Cambridge and the late Elizabeth “Betty” (McConkey) McCoy. Along with his father Jack McCoy, he leaves behind his wife of 26 years Karen McCoy, his children Brandon (Heather) McCoy, Cameron  (Alyson) McCoy and Emily McCoy, his sister Elizabeth “Beth” (Mark) Wharton, and his two brothers Samuel “Sam” (Linda) McCoyand Mark (Susi) McCoy. He also leaves his in-laws, Jack and Patty Cartner. Along with a newborn granddaughter Ruby McCoy and many beloved nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his mother and two sisters Susan and Kathy McCoy.

Dick was a respected businessman and was the owner of seven Do It Best Hardware stores throughout South-Eastern Ohio. Including Orme Hardware of Cambridge, Orme West in New Concord, Orme East of Cadiz, Eureka Orme Hardware in Newcomerstown, Orme’s of Berlin in Berlin, Ormes on Main in Newark, and Ormes of Arcanum in Arcanum, Ohio. He was also on the Board of Directors for the Do It Best Corporation, as well as the board of his Alma Mater at Urbana University (Urbana, Ohio). Dick enjoyed owning, driving and restoring his European sports cars. He was an avid golfer, and played on the varsity level while at Urbana University, receiving two letters in the sport. He also enjoyed spending time with his family and sharing in the activities that they loved. He will be greatly missed by all his family and friends.

Calling hours will be held from 1 p.m-4p.m. and 6 p.m.-8 p.m. on Tuesday March 15 at Bundy-Law Funeral Home, located at 120 N. 11th St in Cambridge, Ohio. Funeral services will start at 11 a.m. on Wednesday March 16 at the Bundy-Law Funeral Home. Services will be officiated by Pastor Karen Rawlins and Father Robert Borer.
