Malcolm “Sonny” Elliott, age 82, of Sarasota, Fla., formerly of Jewett, the village and friends he loved so much, passed away Thursday, March 10.

A 1951 graduate of Jewett High School, Malcolm was a Vietnam Veteran who served 26 years in Army Intelligence. He was very proud to have been a former Mayor of Jewett and was actively involved in many of their community projects.

Surviving are his wife of 16 years, Janet Toogood Elliott; daughters Cynthia Kuhns of Carrollton, Karen Alley of Las Vegas, Nev., and JoEllen Elliott of Okla.; a step daughter Karen (Peter) King of St. Petersburgh, Fla.; a step son Dr. Richard (Kristina) Carr of Rosendale, N.Y.; granddaughters Tisha (Todd) Rainsberg of Carrollton and Michelle and Sarah Alley of Las Vegas, Nev., and eleven great grandchildren.

Preceding him in death is his first wife Nancy Coleman Elliott; a sister Janet Hurless, a brother Terry Elliott and a son-in-law Gary Kuhns.

Services will be held Saturday, March 19 at 1 p.m. in Koch Funeral Home, Scio with Pastor Mark Statler officiating. Burial will follow in Fairview Cemetery, Jewett.
