Willis E. Davis, 84, Flushing, Ohio, died Monday, March 21, at his home.
He was born in Tioga, W.Va., on Jan.15, 1932, a son of the late Willis and Lesta Davis.
He was a member of the Flushing United Methodist Church and a retired employee of the Cravat Coal Company, working as a blasting mine specialist and the Saginaw Coal Company in St. Clairsville as an underground miner. Willis served as mayor of Flushing and as a police officer in the towns of Cadiz and Flushing. He served his country honorably as an Air Force Veteran of the Korean War. An avid outdoorsman, he enjoyed his garden, yard work and fishing. Above all else Willis was a loving and caring father, husband and friend.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sisters Eva Lee Ligett and Alma Howes. Surviving is his loving wife Doris Davis of Flushing, sisters Glena Wells of Cadiz and Ellen Cooper of Cadiz; three sons and three daughters: Ross Davis of New Philadelphia; Russell (Rusty) Taylor of Flushing, and Michael Davis of Powell, Ohio; Audrey Barnhart of Cadiz; Brenda Kish of Smithfield and Tina Marvin of Scio. He has been blessed with many grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Friends will be received at Warren Funeral Home, Flushing, Thursday, March 24, 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. where funeral services will be held on Friday, March 25 at 12 p.m. with Pastor Al Hoder officiating. Burial will follow at Pleasant Valley Cemetery, Henderson Road, Tappan Lake.
