James Allen Neal of 45115 Lude Rd. Belmont, Ohio lost his battle with cancer on March 30.
Born July 29, 1952 in Hickory, Pa., to Richard Walker Neal and Louraine Charlotte Bourg Neal. He graduated from Hopedale High School in 1970.
He is preceded in death by his parents as well as his grandmother, Mary Bourg and his brother by marriage, J. Frank Applegarth.
He is survived by his Wife of 46 years Sharon L. Applegarth–Neal formerly of Hopedale, daughters: Jennifer Neal of Belmont, Jamie Eckles–Neal of Bethesda (Fiance – Chris Mansfield) & grandchildren Morgan Eckles-Matusek (husband Garth Matusek), Miranda Eckles, Lakaya Deegan-Neal & Brody Mansfield & great granddaughter Mia Douglas, one sister – Janice Bryden of Elyria and brother Richard Neal of Richmond, mother by marriage Evelyn Applegarth & two brothers by marriage Joseph Applegarth of Huber Heights & Richard Applegarth of Riverside along with many nieces & nephews.
Jim was a very hard worker and wonderful provider for his family. He retired from Consol Coal after 25 years of service – his last several years were worked at Enlow Fork Mine where he worked until his retirement on August 31, 2015. He was an avid animal lover, especially the family dogs and also loved horses, which is how he spent the beginning of his working life – as a groom and harness racer at many local horse tracks.He will be sadly missed by all.
He will be cremated, with no viewing or funeral services per his request but there will be a small family memorial service given by Tim Snyder of Bethesda Church of Christ on April 9 at 2 p.m. a moment of silence or prayer is requested at that time.
