Dale E. Beatty, age 68, of Scio died suddenly Thursday, April 14, at Harrison Community Hospital, Cadiz after an apparent heart attack.

Born July 6, 1947 in Dennison he was a son of the late Frank Edward Beatty and Lorena Grace Guy Beatty. He was a handle carrier at the Scio Pottery for 27 years retiring in 1985. Dale was a member of the Mt Hope Methodist Church. He enjoyed collecting horse figurines and vinyl records of older country and rock and roll bands. He was affectionately known in Scio as “The Weather Man” because he kept everyone updated on the weather forecast.

Surviving are his sister Sherry Monahan, with whom he resided; three nieces who he considered his daughters Faith Ann (Jeff) Van Schaik of Williamstown, NJ, Charmin (Darren) Jennings of Ocala, Fla., and Susie (Larry) Murral of Bowerston; an aunt Honnie Wince of St. Mary’s, W.Va.; five grandnieces; five grandnephews; four great grandnieces; two great grand-nephews and numerous cousins.

Dale was preceded in death by his parents and a grandnephew.

Services will be held Tuesday at 11 a.m. in Koch Funeral Home, Scio with Rev. Samuel Betts officiating. Burial will follow in Fairview Cemetery, Jewett.
