Thelma L. Samples, age 90, formerly of Jewett, Ohio, and Henderson, Ky., passed away Friday, June 10, at her home in Killeen, Texas after a lengthy illness.
Born February 23, 1926 in Jewett she was a daughter of the late Leon and Wilma Shambaugh Townsend. Thelma was a 1944 graduate of Jewett High School, a member of the Jewett United Methodist Church and a former member of the Order of the Eastern Star Chapter 316 in Scio. After moving to Texas she attended the Harker Heights United Methodist Church. She loved spending time with her family especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Preceding her in death are her husband Harold R. Samples, a son Harold R.“Richard” Samples, Jr and a grandson Scott Samples.
Surviving is a son Scott L. (Joann) Samples with whom she resided, grandchildren Mary Jo Sawyer of Galt, Mo., and Jeffrey Samples of Indianapolis, Ind., great granddaughters Hailey and Breanna Sawyer of Galt, Mo., and brothers Paul S. Townsend of Lexington, Ky., and Leon J. Townsend of High Springs, Fla.
A graveside service will be held Friday, June 17 at 1 p.m. in Fairview Cemetery, Jewett with Pastor David Lee officiating.
