Jeffrey Ray Milligan, age 68, of 304 Piedmont Road, Freeport, died at 6:45 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 14, 2021 in Akron General Hospital, Akron, Ohio, following an acute illness.

Jeff was born in Newport, Ohio, on Aug. 19, 1953. He was a son of the late Harry H. “Bud” Milligan and Lola M. Scott Milligan. He was a 1972 graduate of New Philadelphia High School. Jeff worked at the Freeport Press in Freeport for a couple of years after graduation, then worked over 30 years at Great Plains/Stone Container in New Philadelphia, then returned to the Freeport Press as a forklift operator until he retired Aug. 29, 2020. He was a member of the Freeport Volunteer Fire Department for forty-nine years.

Surviving is his wife of 48 years, Debra Jeannette Bear Milligan. They were married on July 7, 1973. Also surviving is a son, Kevin (Melissa) Milligan of New Philadelphia; a daughter, Kyra Milligan of Freeport; two granddaughters, Olivia and Aliya; a grand-dog, Bella; a brother, Tom L. (Nancy) Milligan of Wooster; his mother-in-law, Ann Bear of Freeport; and several brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Friends may call Friday, Sept. 17, 2021, from 6 to 8 p.m. in Koch Funeral Home (216 S. High Street, Freeport) and for one hour before the service on Saturday, Sept. 18, 2021 in the Freeport United Methodist Church. A funeral service will begin at noon, with Pastor Jim McConnell officiating. Fireman service and burial will follow in Greenmont Union Cemetery, Freeport.
