Mary Irene Hodkinson, age 88, of 33920 Old Piedmont Road in Flushing, died peacefully at home at 1:40 p.m. Thursday, October 7, 2021.
Irene was born November 22, 1932 in Tuscarawas, Ohio, a daughter of the late Frank B. Milburn and Mildred V. Fiester Milburn.
She was a 1950 graduate of Tuscarawas High School. After graduation, she worked at Green’s 5 & 10 in Uhrichsville. Then she got married and was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and a farmer, milking cows, baling hay, operating farm equipment, and doing whatever needed done on the farm. She loved flower gardening in her beautiful yard and loved being on the farm with her family.
Irene was a 50-year member of the Freeport Eastern Star 319 and held various positions within the Star organization, including Grand Representative of Texas. She attended the Piedmont United Methodist Church and was involved with the local farm council organization.
Her husband, Junior Arthur Hodkinson, died December 9, 2007. Also preceding her in death were four children: Kevin Jay Hodkinson in 1961, Frank Arthur Hodkinson in 1985, Pamela Sue Hodkinson in 2012, and Terry Lee Hodkinson in 2015. Also preceding her in death were four brothers: Charles Milburn, Frank Milburn, Bobby Milburn, and Jim Milburn.
Irene is survived by two sons: Tom (Linnah) Hodkinson of Tippecanoe and Mike Hodkinson of New Philadelphia; a daughter-in-law, Becky (Doug) Koscoe of Marietta; 10 grandchildren: Kevin (Crystal), Dawn (Eric), Jason (Jess), Derick (Megan), Heather (Don), Ashley, Daphne, Julia (Vic), Ben and Ellie; 24 great-grandchildren: Aubree, Waylon, Carter, Frankie, Wesson, Cameron, Logan, Cody, Breauhnna, Dillon, Cassie, Lorena, Hailey, Landon, Tyson, Tami, Trevor, Tabby, Caiden, Evan, Camden, Finlee, Amarie, and Emy; four siblings: Janet Butcher, Kay Cerana, Jerry (Karen) Milburn, and Ron (Lynn) Milburn.
Visitation and services will be private at the Koch Funeral Home (216 S. High Street in Freeport). A private Eastern Star service will be held by the Freeport Order of Eastern Star 319.
