Floyd R. Gladman, 86, of Tippecanoe, Ohio passed away on Tuesday, Nov. 2, 2021, at Medina Hospital in Medina, Ohio. Born March 6, 1935 in Harrison County’s Franklin Township, he was the last surviving child of the late William D. and Florence R. (Haney) Gladman, having been preceded in death by his siblings, Ruth Colvin, Lois Cox, Ida Moulton, Marilyn Kruse, and Walter Gladman.
Floyd loved farming and was proud to be the fifth generation to live on and work his family farm. He also was employed by Joy Manufacturing for many years until his retirement. Floyd was a lifelong member of Brownsville Christian Church who was active in 4-H and a founding member of Keystone Saddle Club. He was a U.S. Army veteran, a member of the American Legion. For over 60 years, he was a dedicated member of the Deersville Veterans Memorial Association, which he helped organize.
On June 19, 1956, Floyd married Betty Jean (McGill) Gladman, with whom he celebrated 65 years of loving marriage this spring. He is also survived by their children, Ray E. (Victoria) Gladman, Lee O. (Devanie) Gladman, and Mary L. (Je-An) DeWitt; grandchildren, Levi (Jeena) Gladman, F. Cayne (Laura) Gladman, Nicholas (Alisha) Gladman, Fran (Megan) Gladman, Helena (Justin) Woodworth, Travis (Yvonne) Gladman, Jamie (Mike) Cooper, Jessie Gladman, Talon DeWitt, and Tai DeWitt; 19 great-grandchildren; sister-in-law, Thelma “Faye” Gladman; many nieces and nephews; and his dear friend and former daughter-in-law, Joan Gladman. In addition to his parents and siblings, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Jean Gladman.
According to Floyd’s wishes, cremation is planned, and he will be interred at Deersville’s Patterson Union Cemetery on a future date. His family will receive callers on Saturday, Nov. 6, from 1-4 p.m. at the R. K. Lindsey Funeral Home in Dennison. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Brownsville Christian Church (32530 Moravian Trail, Tippecanoe, OH 44699).
