Alfred Mckinley Johnson Jr., 65, of Cambridge, went peacefully to be with the Lord on Wednesday, Nov. 3, 2021). Alfred, also affectionately known as Jay or Jr., was a 1974 graduate of Cadiz High School, and a veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps.
Jay was a part of the laborers union and most recently retired from Kokosing after several years of service. Jay was driven, active, hardworking, and never met a stranger. He loved his family, the Steelers, and his beloved dog, Goliath.
Jay is preceded in death by his parents, Alfred Sr. and Virginia Johnson Ramsey; two sisters, Virginia Bell and Alfretta Johnson; and his father-in-law, Reverend Charles Simpson.
He is survived by his wife, Deirdre D. Johnson; his mother-in-law, Betty Simpson; two sisters, Georgia McCollins and Alfreda Goff; three stepdaughters, Kayla Hollins, Amanda Micale, and Ciara (Wes) Harding; seven grandchildren, Jada, Michael, Mya, Alivia, Madelyn, Avery, Monty, and an upcoming arrival; and several close nieces, nephews, and cousins who he loved very much.
Visitation will be held Tuesday, Nov. 9, 2021 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Thorn-Black Funeral Home in Cambridge, where funeral services will follow at 1 p.m. Friends and family are welcome, but due to COVID-19, please take all necessary precautions to ensure your safety and everyone else’s should you decide to attend.
