Kathleen Eleanor Virginia “Kate” Falls, age 99, of Scio, passed away Sunday, Nov. 7, 2021 at the Community Hospice Truman House in New Philadelphia. Born March 30, 1922 at her family home near Conotton, she was a daughter of the late Max C. Snyder and Alberta Rebecca Richmond Snyder. She graduated from Bowerston High School in 1940, where she played basketball and was a cheerleader. After graduating, she went to work at Scio Pottery, where she met the love of her life, David Falls. They were married on Aug. 19, 1942. She took time off from work when her children were young but went back to Scio Pottery around 1962 and retired in 1986. In 1945 she and Dave purchased a farm near Scio, which their son Dave now owns and operates.

Kate’s life was always centered on her family and her Lord and Savior. She was a member of the New Rumley United Methodist Church, and earlier in her and Dave’s lives, they enjoyed studying the Bible with the Inner Circle Fellowship. They also traveled to every state and took a train into Canada, but the trip that was her favorite was when she went to Israel. She was a wonderful cook and well known for her delicious pies.

Preceding her in death is her husband of 69 years, David Eugene Falls; a daughter Ginger Thompson; a grandson, Sam Thompson; a son-in-law Rev Henry Mooney; and siblings Harold Snyder and Mary Ann Conrad.

Surviving are children, Mary Lou Mooney of Scio, Carol (Tom) Amos of Dover, Rebecca “Becky” (Pastor Mick) Foster of New Philadelphia, Thomas David “Dave” Falls of Scio, and Kathleen “Kathy” (Rick) Hein of Conotton; grandchildren Chad Thompson, Amy Thompson, Ben Thompson, Matthew Mooney, Amanda (Brady) Shaffer, Heidi (Mark) Fowler, Bracken (Kimberly) Foster, Tara (Luke) Burkholder, Seth (Ramona) Foster, Bethany (Christopher) Burner, Marne Falls, Jessica (Tony) Marcantonio and Katya (Matt) LaGrow; 23 great-grandchildren; and a brother Dick Snyder of New Philadelphia.

Services will be held Friday, Nov. 12, 2021 at 11 a.m. in the New Rumley United Methodist Church (41395 Scio-New Rumley Rd, Scio, Ohio 43988), with her grandson, Pastor Bracken Foster, officiating. Burial will follow in the Fairview Cemetery in Jewett. Friends may call Thursday from 6-8 p.m. at Koch Funeral Home (101 W Main St, Scio).
