Sharon S. Simmons, 67 of New Athens, passed away Thursday, Nov. 4, 2021 at the Harrison Community-Wheeling Hospital emergency room in Cadiz, Ohio. She was born January 21, 1954 in Wheeling West Virginia, a daughter of Bernice L. Moore Starcher, who survives, and the late Paul A. Starcher.
Sharon was retired from Bell Nursing Home, where she worked in housekeeping and was a member of the House of the Shepherd in New Athens, Ohio.
She is survived in addition to her mother by her husband, Richard L. Simmons; her brother, Gregory Starcher of New Athens; her sister, Jacqueline Starcher Rutan of Canton; three nephews, Brian Rutan of Midlothian, Texas, Brock (Alysann) Rutan of Waxahachie, Texas and Paul R. Starcher of Dunkirk, New York; stepdaughter, Darla (Ron) Lucas of Carrollton; stepgrandchildren: Justin (Erin) Lucas of Kilgore and Kayla (Brandon Smith) Lucas of Carrollton; two stepgreat-grandchildren: Jaxon and Ella Lucas and her brother-in-law, Paul (Kay) Simmons of Amsterdam, Ohio.
Private services will be held at the convenience of the family, per her request. Burial will take place at Longview Cemetery in New Athens, Ohio.
