Charles Eugene Hauber (“Chuck”) was called home on Sunday, Nov. 21 at Twin City Hospital after declining health issues; he was 79 years old.

Born May 12, 1942 in Dennison, Ohio, Chuck was an Army veteran and a long-time member of the Scio American Legion. He enjoyed traveling, camping, and farming his earlier years, and prior to retiring from the coal mine, he enjoyed time with his family and sitting on his porch swing with his daughter Lori telling stories of his late wife, her mother. He also enjoyed spending time with all of his friends at the legion.

Chuck is survived by his daughter Lori (Jim) Roberts, son Todd (Rachelle) Hauber, and daughter Mary (Brian) Dowdel; grandchildren Ashley and Jake Roberts, Dylan O’Neill and Christan Dowdel; and great-grandchildren Jace, Mila, and Jaela.

He is preceded in death by his parents Steve and Mary Hauber, sister Helen Markley, daughter Sherri Hauber, granddaughter Courtney O’Neill, and beloved wife Betty Hauber.

Chuck will be missed by all who knew him. At Chuck’s request, there will be no services, but the family plans to have a celebration of life. His passion was to donate every month to St. Jude’s children’s hospital. People wishing to honor his memory could do so by donating in honor of Chuck.
