The 12-hour event will feature fun and games, entertainment and a luminaria ceremony. Nine teams are registered for the event.
A survivor brunch begins at 10:30 a.m. in the Carroll County Senior Friendship Center.
Opening ceremonies begin at noon with the flag ceremony presented by members of the VFWs from Amsterdam and Carrollton, followed by Megan Stewart singing the national anthem.
Mike Gallina will be the featured speaker. He is the vice president of Outreach Services for the AultCare Health Plans.
Prior to joining AultCare, he served 30 years in education as a school administrator and superintendent.
Gallina graduated from Minerva High School in 1978. He was the valedictorian and captain of the football, basketball and baseball teams during his senior year. He was an all-league selection in football and baseball.
He graduated from the University of Mt. Union with a degree in Elementary Education, with a concentration in Learning Disabilities. He was a four-year baseball letter winner at Mt. Union and team captain his senior year. He was named Outstanding Senior in Elementary Education in 1982. He was elected into both the academic and athletic halls of fame at Minerva High School and the University of Mt. Union.
Gallina taught for six years before moving to administration. He was superintendent of Minerva Local School and North Canton City Schools, respectively.
In 2009, he was chosen by the Martha Holden Jennings Foundation as “Ohio’s Superintendent of the Year.”
Gallina serves on numerous boards and civic organizations in and around northeast Ohio.
A motivational and keynote speaker, Gallina lives in North Canton with his wife, Lynette.
Desarae Gorney will read the speech she competed with at state competition. It is about strength, courage and overcoming obstacles. Mark Wells will provide the opening prayer and preside over the luminaria ceremony. Calvin Graham will play bagpipes after the silent lap during the luminaria ceremony.

2 p.m. – Valley Voices Women’s Barbershop Chorus (have been performing since 1991 and have 25 active members);
2:30 p.m. – Frozen t-shirt contest;
5:30 p.m. – Cake Walk;
6:30 p.m. – Performance by Pound;
7 p.m. – 20th Celebration – cake & ice cream;
8:15 p.m. – Announce Silent Auction Winners;
9 p.m. – Awards
9:30 p.m. – Luminaria Ceremony;
11 p.m. – Closing ceremony.
