Alvin J. Davis (Doss), 69, of Smith Rd., Salineville, passed away Friday evening, Dec. 11, 2015, in his home with his family around him.
Born Nov. 2, 1946, in East Liverpool, he was a son of the late Elwood and Elsie (Reynolds) Davis.
Alvin served in the U.S. Marine Corps during the Vietnam War. He was a member of Riley’s United Methodist Church, a member of the VFW and American Legion. He worked for 30 years for G.T.E. in Minerva and at various other jobs over the years. Alvin was past master of Fox Township Grange, a member of Local IBEW, and past president of Southern Local Band Boosters.
A loving and devoted family man, he leaves his wife of 47 years, Susan (Brewer) Davis; three children, Theresa (David) Hawks and Josh (Rhonda) Davis, both of Arkansas, and Maggie (Fred) Wiley of Salineville; four grandchildren who were his pride and joy, Rebecca, Thomas, and Lauren Davis and Kayla Hawks; five step-grandchildren and nine step great grandchildren; some very special nieces and nephews whom he loved just like his own children; and two sisters, Margaret Walters of Apollo PA, and Elsie Duncan of Salineville.
He was preceded in death by two brothers and eight sisters.
A service will be held Thursday, Dec. 17, at 1 p.m. in Riley’s United Methodist Church with Pastor Quint Bryan of the Evangelical Friends Church in Sebring, OH, officiating.
Burial will be in Mechanicstown Cemetery, where full military honors will be accorded by the John Adams Post 442 Honor Guard.
Family and friends may call at Riley’s Church Thursday from 10:30 a.m. until time of service.
