Safe Kids Carroll County wants to kick off the school year right by inviting the public to the annual Back to School Safety & Wellness Extravaganza Aug.13 from 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at the Carroll County Fairgrounds just north of Carrollton on Rt. 9 (Kensington Rd.). Free school supplies will be provided to school age through fifth grade students. Children must be present in order to receive school supplies. A variety of interactive safety and wellness stations will be set up to provide education on safety in the home, in vehicles, in the sun, in the water, playing sports, on a bike, nutrition and physical activity information and much more. Free haircuts, finger printing, dental screenings, raffles and giveaways will also be provided during the event.
The Carroll County Early Childhood Coordinating Committee will also be sponsoring free preschool screenings that include hearing, vision, dental, and medical screenings. The Carroll County General Health District Nursing Division will be checking immunization records to make sure the child is up to date. Parents are asked to bring shot records for children.
