Darcy Lynne Thorne-Leonard, 39, of Lewis Rd., Salineville, passed away peacefully at 4 p.m., Wednesday, Feb. 24, 2016, in Northside Medical Center, Youngstown following a sudden two-week illness.
Born Nov. 13, 1976, in Salem, she was a daughter of Walter “Bud” and Carole (McKarns) Thorne, and had lived her whole life in the area.
A 1995 graduate of Carrollton High School, she received her teaching degree from Mount Union College. Darcy was a kindergarten teacher at Carrollton Elementary and a member of the Bethesda Presbyterian Church.
In addition to her parents of Salineville, she is survived and will be dearly missed by her husband, Michael S. Leonard, whom she married Oct. 22, 2005; her daughter, AnnaSophia of the home; her brother, Troy (Jessica) Thorne of Salineville; father- and mother-in-law, Jerry and Nancy Leonard of Massillon; brother- and sister-in-law, Brian and Michelle Leonard of Massillon; and many aunts, uncles, and cousins.
Funeral services will be held Monday, Feb. 29 at 11 a.m. in Eells-Leggett-Stauffer Funeral Home with the Rev. Mark R. Wilds officiating. Burial will follow in Bethesda Church Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m., Sunday, and from 10 a.m. until the time of services Monday in the funeral home.
