Delmar Donald Calkins, 91, passed away June 2, 2018, in Community Care Center, Alliance.
Born Oct. 17, 1926, in Southington, OH, he was a son to George and Myrtle (Miller) Calkins.
Delmar was self-employed as a truck driver. After he retired from trucking, he worked as a security guard for Eljers in Salem. He is most remembered as a man who gave back to his community by his involvement in the Hanoverton Ruritan, the RSVP in Columbiana County and was a Hanoverton United Food Basket volunteer.
Delmar is survived by his two daughters, Belinda Niswonger and Carolyn Mattevi of Lisbon; grandchildren, Abby Niswonger of Beaufort SC, Kelly Niswonger, Lukas (Taylor) Mattevi, and Carrie Mattevi. all of Lisbon.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Carol Calkins; his brothers, Raymond, Richard and Robert Calkins; and sisters, Ada Novicki, Betty Morrison, and Jessy Calkins.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, June 5, at 1 p.m. in Bartley Funeral Home, 205 W. Lincoln Way, Minerva. Calling hours will be Tuesday one hour before services at Bartley Funeral Home. Private graveside services will take place with burial in Heritage Gardens Cemetery.
