Dorotha B. Kirby Mills, 84, of Perrysville passed away Sunday, Dec. 6, 2015, in her home.
Born Feb.15, 1931, in Perry Twp., Carroll Co., she was a daughter of the late Howard W. Kirby and Martha L. Brackin Kirby.
She graduated from Perrysville High School in 1948 and went to business college in Columbus. Dortha married James R. Mills on Nov. 25, 1950, and they moved to White Sands, New Mexico where he was stationed in the Army, while there she worked at the Federal Reserve. They moved back to the Scio area in 1958 and in 1963 they started Mills Tire Shop, which she continued running with her son James D. Mills. Dortha was an active partner in the business even making trips to Akron to pick up tires with their truck and trailer until she was 70. She also wallpapered and painted houses and worked at the Scio Pottery and Hugo’s, but the job she enjoyed most was working with kids through the COAD Foster Grandparents at Carrollton Elementary School and HARCATUS Headstart. She was everyone’s grandma.
Dortha was a member of Perrysville United Methodist Church and enjoyed crossword puzzles.
