- Earl Anders of Canton, formerly of Carrollton and Harlem Springs, passed away at Bethany Nursing Home in Canton August 23, 2015.
Born May 13, 1919, in Harlem Springs, Ohio, he was a son of the late Lawnie and Anna Harsh Anders.
Earl was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Carrollton, Shriner’s International, Knights Templar, Grand Lodge Masons and the American Legion. He was a veteran of WWII serving in the Army Air Corp and was a graduate of the Lowry Academy. During his working career he owned eight different IGA stores.
He is survived by a daughter, Dana Jo Garfield of Orange, OH; two grandchildren, Brandon (Danyell) Garfield and Ryan Garfield and fiancée Anna; three great grandchildren, Emily, Lauren and Mia Garfield; sister-in-law, Patricia Limbach; and several nieces and nephews.
Earl was preceded in death by his wife, the former Bette Scatterday; three sisters, Vera, Louise and Helen; and a brother, Loren.
Funeral services will be Saturday, Aug. 29, 2015 at11 a.m. in the First Presbyterian Church at Carrollton with Rev. Burt McGlawn officiating. Burial will follow at the Harlem Springs Cemetery in Harlem Springs, OH with full military honors provided by the American Legion, VFW, and DAV. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church with Masonic services at 10:45 a.m.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Carrollton First Presbyterian Church, Crossroads Hospice or the Shriner’s Hospital.
