Emma “Betty” Rebecca Peoples, 95, of Carrollton passed away Wednesday, Dec.30, 2015, in Mercy Medical Center in Canton.
Born June 23, 1920, in Ghent, OH, she was a daughter of Joseph and Emma (Richards) Bailey.
She was a member of Carrollton Music Club, Carroll County Genealogy Society and Historical Society, Northeast Ohio Forestry Association, and Riley’s Methodist Church where she was involved in the Missionary Society and treasurer for many years. She was a lifetime Pomona Grange member and a real estate agent for 42 years.
She is survived by one son, Alvy (Linda) Peoples; seven daughters, Violet “Vicki” (Ed) Nign, MaryAnn (Clifford) Jones, Nora “Sis” (Al) Klosowski, Louise (John Work) Peoples, Charlotte (Larry) Johnston, Sue (Terry “TJ”) Johnston, and Dorothy (Tom Schlemmer) Peoples; 24 grandchildren; 52 great-grandchildren; 28 great great-grandchildren; and three sisters, Aleen, Geraldine, and Mary.
Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 64 years, Harold “Red” Peoples; two sons, Glen and Harold Jr.; a sister; four brothers; two grandsons; two great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
Funeral services were held Jan. 4 in Riley’s Methodist Church in Salineville. Burial followed in Mechanicstown Cemetery.
