Fair Board reorganizes; sets admission for 2016 expo

Members of the Carroll County Ag Society (Fair Board) held an emergency reorganizational meeting Nov. 25.

The board was scheduled to reorganize during the annual meeting Nov. 21, but due to the lack of quorum of the 14-member board at the meeting, an emergency meeting was held to meet the state deadline of Nov. 30.

The board requested and received approval from the Ohio Department of Agriculture (the governing agency of fair boards in Ohio) to conduct the meeting with a quorum of seven members due to the fact that Keith Saunier, who was appointed to fill the unexpired term of Dan King was not sworn in properly at a previous meeting and a long-term illness of another member who was unable to attend.

During the session attended by members Mike Lozier, Leanna Weir, Ray Rummell, Kevin Host, Vanessa Shepherd, Sherman Oyer and Jim Long, Lozier was elected president and Host vice president. Margaret Mesler was re-appointed treasurer and appointed temporary secretary.

The officers, along with those who won seats at the October election –   Rummell, Shepherd and Wayne Ferguson – were sworn in by Honorary Lifetime Fair Board Member Harold Barber. Zac Campbell and Mark Edie, who were re-elected during the October election, were not present at the meeting along with Saunier, who was elected to a one-year term.

The board accepted the resignation of Jennifer Lucas, secretary, effective Nov. 16 and voted to keep the cost of membership and exhibitor tickets at $30 for the 2016 fair, scheduled July 19-26.
