Fox Twp. parade goes on without a ‘sprinkle’

MECHANICSTOWN – Cloudy skies did not discourage a crowd from attending the Fox Twp. Volunteer Fire Department (VFD) annual Homecoming and Parade June 21.

The three-day homecoming opened with a parade featuring 50 units comprised of fire trucks, antique vehicles and county royalty.

Following the parade, the Ohio Mod Rod Pullers put on a show for the audience. Pulls were cut short Friday and Saturday due to rain.

Parade winners included:

Best Appearing Truck 750 & Over: Augusta Fire Department (FD);

Best Appearing Truck 750 & Under: Bergholz FD;

Longest Distance Traveled: Kilgore FD;

Best Renovated Antique Vehicle: Debbie Beck, 1946 1/2 ton pickup;

Best Walking Unit: American Legion Post 428 Color Guard;

Judge’s Choice: East End Station Fire Truck.

Judges included: Willis Cline and Tom Mesler.
