Frances Marie (Miller) Frey, 91, died Aug. 19, 2015. She was born Nov. 26, 1923, in Coshocton County, OH, in 1923 to Clarence A. and Faun Miller. Fran married Charles Frey in 1946 and lived in Carrollton from 1947 until Chuck’s death in 2007 when she moved to Zanesville.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and sister, Lucille Miller Heffelfinger (Dale).
Fran is survived by three children: Stan Frey (Cheri) of Oak Ridge, TN; Donna Frey Royalty (Marv) of Columbus and Gary Frey of Zanesville; her beloved sister, Mildred Wright (Richard) of Cooperdale; nephews Phil Barcus (Diane) of Powell, Mark Wright (Pam) of Raymond; and her niece, Joy Barcus Vance of Mount Vernon. She spent many happy hours with her grandchildren: Douglas Raines (Lynn) of Whitefish Bay, WI; Brooke Raines of Brooke Raines of Dublin, Justine Frey (Courtney) of Knoxville, TN; and her stepgrandsons, John and Bradley Royalty of Grandview. She was a loving great-grandmother to Hunter and Bryson Frey as well as Mia and Annie Raines. Many family members and friends are left to cherish her memory. Fran graduated as a registered nurse from White Cross School of Nursing (Now Riverside Methodist) in Columbus.
She worked for Carrollton Schools as a library aide and then as the school system’s first school nurse. She later became certified as a Hospice nurse. Through the years in Carrollton, she was a member of the Junior Women’s Club, The Sweet Adelines and the Church of Christ, Christian where she participated in a circle group and choir. Of her interests and activities.
Fran loved most being a wife, mother, sister, grandmother, aunt, neighbor and friend. The family would like to thank her many friends at the Carrollton Church of Christ for their heart-felt cards and letters over the past several years. Also thanks to all of her care givers at Cedar Hill Care Center of Zanesville.
Visitors will be received Saturday, Aug. 29, from 10 -11:30 a.m. in Allmon Dugger Cotton Funeral Home, 304 2nd Street NW, Carrollton, OH. Funeral services will be held Aug. 29 at 11:30 a.m. with Pastor Mike Doak officiating. Burial will follow in Westview Cemetery. Tributes may be sent to your local Alzheimer’s Association at alz.org.
