Jane Blazer, 89, passed away June 17, 2018.
Born Aug. 15, 1928, in Hanoverton, she was the daughter of Lawrence and Sadie Furey.
Jane was a hair dresser for over 70 years. As the owner of Jane’s Beauty Lounge, she sponsored many softball teams and bowling teams. She was an avid bowler, card player and Browns fan.
Jane founded United Community Food Basket and organized numerous charity events and dinners. She was a member of Hanover Historical Society and helped organize Peddlers Days. She was a member of St. Philip Neri Catholic Church in Dungannon.
She is survived by her four children, Ray (Petra) Blazer of King George, VA, Scott Blazer of Guilford Lake, Mike (Jan) Blazer and Deb Blazer, both of Hanoverton; 12 grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren and four great great grandchildren.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Ellis, whom she married Dec. 23, 1950; four brothers, Louis, Dan, Alfred and Art Furey; and six sisters, Josephine Furey, Anna Chiavaroli, Lena Marlig, Cleda Bourquin, Marge Dunn and Ellen Owen.
A funeral mass will be held June 21 at 11 a.m. in St. Philip Neri Church, followed by burial in St. Paul Cemetery. Calling hours will be held Wednesday, June 20, from 5 – 7 p.m. in Maple Cotton Funeral Home.
The family requests donations to St. Philip Neri, Hanover Historical Society or Community Hospice.
