Judith A. Heidy, 80, of Carrollton, passed away Jan.14, 2016, in Woodlawn Compassionate Care Center in Canton.
Born Aug. 17, 1935, in Canton, she was a daughter to the late William and Bertha Rimmele.
She graduated from Lincoln High School, and retired from Eye Centers of Ohio. She was a member of Carrollton Bible Chapel and before becoming ill, was an active member of the OAKS.
Judy was a wonderful cook and well known for her cherry pie. Her piecrusts were one of a kind. She loved to go fishing/boating, camping and sitting around bonfires telling stories and laughing. Most of all she loved just spending time with her husband Joe, going to gospel concerts and living in their seven acre paradise they called home since 1993, in Carrollton. Working in her flower garden was another one of her passions. She would spend countless hours making it look just right.
She is survived by her son, Mike (Karin) and daughter, Pat (Russ) Leatherberry. She was so proud of her four grandchildren, Kristin (Daniel) Dunnivan, Nathan (Jamie) Heidy, Sam (Jakki) Leatherberry, and Heidy (Josh) Tandy. There are also seven great-grandchildren and one on the way. Several of the great-grandchildren referred to her as “Nana the Great.”
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by the love of her life, Ralph (Joe) Heidy, and her brother, Glenn Rimmele (and his wife Josephine).
Calling hours will be Jan. 18 from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. with the funeral service immediately following in Carrollton Bible Chapel with Pastor Chuck Wilson officiating. Cremation followed by a private memorial service will be held by the family. The family would like to thank Aultman MICU, CCU, Woodlawn Rehabilitation Center, Altercare of Noble’s Pond, and the Compassionate Care staff during her extended illness.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Aultman Compassionate Care Center, 281 Woodlawn Ave. NW, Canton, OH 44708-1423 or Carrollton Bible Chapel, 365 Steubenville Rd., SE, Carrollton, OH 44615.
