Owen Kienzle and Rozalyn (Roz) Pridemore have been named Students of the Month for January at Carrollton High School where they are seniors.
Son of Rose Kienzle and Duane Kienzle of Carrollton, Owen is a member of the speech team, marching and concert bands and Academic Challenge team. He has a sister Olivia Kienzle, 14, who is a freshman at CHS.
Upon graduation, Owen plans to attend The Ohio State University and or an Ivy league school. He then plans to join the Peace Corps and later, the foreign service or other government work. His hobbies include reading about politics, history and philosophy.
When asked what teacher, coach, family member or special friend has influenced him and why, Owen replied: My mother who is raising me and teaching me the value of learning and Mrs. (Alanza) Nuzzolillo for teaching me the value of hard work and challenge.
In offering advice for success in life, Owen said; Never stop learning.
PRIDEMORE, is the daughter of Steve and Francie Pridemore of Scio.
At CHS, she is a member of the volleyball and basketball teams, National Honor Society, Student Council and Spanish Club. She has six older siblings and a sister, Jaci, who is a sophomore at CHS.
Upon graduation, Roz plans to attend either Franciscan University or Bluffton University and obtain a degree in business. Her hobbies include reading and spending time with family
When asked what teacher, coach, family member or special friend has influenced her and why, Roz replied: “My whole family because they are a positive example and have always been here for me.”
In offering advice for success in life, she said: Always stay true to yourself and your faith.
Both Owen and Roz become eligible for a $500 scholarship to be awarded by Gateway Royalty to one boy and one girl at the conclusion of the 2015-16 school year. They also will have their pictures on display in the showcase at CHS and will be treated to lunch by Carrollton High School Principal David Davis.
