Fifth grade gifted students from Malvern had the opportunity to watch a live performance of “Peter and the Starcatcher” March 1 at the Weathervane Playhouse in Akron.
“The play was a great accompaniment to the classic “Peter Pan” novel they have been studying in class. The neat thing about “Peter and the Starcatcher” is that the play ends where the book begins, so the students gained a better understanding about how Neverland originated and where Peter Pan came from,” said Kristi Hoffman, who accompanied the students.
Following the performance, the cast and crew sat down with the students and explained the different aspects of the performance. Students learned about sound, lighting, props and costumes as well as what it takes to become an actor. There was also a question and answer time where the students could ask the cast and crew anything. It was a wonderful and enriching experience for our students.
