The Carrollton High School Speech and Drama department will present the musical “Little Women” March 17-19 in the Bell-Herron auditorium. Show time is 7 p.m.
The show is based on Louisa May Alcott’s American classic of the Civil War and how one family’s love stands the test of time.
Produced nationally and internationally, Little Women has been praised by critics for its ambition in adapting such a well-known story for the stage.
Directors and choreographers Ron and Alzana Nuxxolillo said the timeless captivating story is brought to life in this glorious musical filled with personal discovery, heartache, hope, and everlasting love.
The movie follows the adventures of sisters Jo, Meg, Beth and Amy March. Jo, played by senior Elizabeth Domer, is trying to sell her stories for publication, but the publishers are not interested. Her friend, Professor Bhaer, tells her she has to do better and write more from herself. Begrudgingly taking this advice, Jo weaves the story of herself and her sisters and their experience growing up in Civil War America.
Mindy Domer is the vocal director for the production and Wes Frew serves as the technical director. McKenzie Hagy is the assisting stage director and Brad Eick is providing fight choreography.
Tickets are on sale and available during school hours in the CHS Fine Arts room (room 1901) or by calling Mindy Domer at 330-627-2134. Cost is $5 for presale. Tickets will be $8 at the door the night of the performances.
