Mack Sauer, Jr., 81, left this earth July 11, 2016.
Born in Greenfield, OH, he graduated from Fairfield High School in Leesburg, OH, and received his bachelor’s degree in Journalism from Ohio University. He was a member of Phi Kappa Tau.
After graduation, he worked in advertising for Ohio Power in Canton, the Climalene Company, Standard Printing, Covey and Koons Advertising and Innis Maggiore. He created the following ad agencies: Concept III, McKinley and Assoc. and McMedia.
After retiring to Carrollton, he was a correspondent for The Free Press Standard, a detailer at Guess Motors and a guard at L.C. Smith. He became active in the Church of Christ/Disciples as a choir member, an Elder and chair of the board. He led Wednesday night Prayer and Praise services and a county jail ministry Sunday nights. With the aid of Rev. Mike Doak, he became a commissioned licensed minister.
He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Sylvia; five children, Edie (Redhawk) Rice-Sauer, Cindy (Todd) Little, Bart (Laura) Sauer, Sheri Johnson and Laura (Gary) Parson; grandchildren, Josh and Sophie Rice-Sauer, Chelsie (Stephen) Sabey, Jeff Little, Brooks Little and Christian and Claire Sauer.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Mack and Edith (Kasler) Sauer; a son-in-law, Doug Johnson; and a sister, Ann Montgomery.
A memorial service will be held Aug. 13 at 12:30 p.m. in Church of Christ/Disciples, 353 Moody Ave., Carrollton. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Church of Christ/Disciples in Carrollton.
