John David Featheringham, Jr., 18, of 171 4th St. SE, was charged in Carroll County Municipal Court with one count of felonious assault, a second-degree felony (F2), one county of assault on a sheriff deputy (F4) and one county of assault on a Carrollton Police officer. He was also charged with resisting arrest.

Carroll County Sheriff Dale Williams said deputies were called to a disturbance at 120 12th St., Lot C, in the early hours of March 19 for a person the caller said “was under the influence of LSD”.

When deputies and police officers arrived, they learned Featheringham attacked his father and bit off a large portion of his ear. The father was attacked when he arrived at the residence to pick up his son.

Featheringham attacked deputies when they attempted to take him into custody, biting one deputy on the arm.

“He was eventually restrained and transported to Aultman Hospital for evaluation. His father was also transported to the hospital along with the portion of his ear recovered at the scene,” said Williams, who noted deputies recovered drug abuse instruments and a small amount of marijuana at the scene.
