Martha Jean Cogan, 95, of Minerva, died Thursday, Aug. 27, 2015, in Alliance Community Hospital.
Born in Canton, she was a daughter to Charles and Blanche Waefler.
She and her husband owned Maple Drive Dairy Farm near East Rochester. She was a nine-year employee of the former Fair Store and managed, then owned Hill’s Shoe Store in Minerva for 25 years.
She was a member of First Church of Christ, Scientist and a life member of Bayard Grange and a member of SWRM club.
She is survived by a daughter, Christine (Chris) Powell of Zoar; son, Vaughn (Susan) Cogan of Carrollton; two grandchildren, Melinda (Aaron) Abrahamson and Dawn (Mick) Malcom; and five great grandchildren, Morgan and Andrew Abrahamson, Avery, Madilyn and Kaylor Malcom.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Dwight Cogan, who died in 1993; a brother and sister-in-law, Dwight and Libby Waefler; and recently her beloved cat, Squeeky
Per her wishes, a graveside service will be held Saturday, Aug. 29 at 2 p.m. in the Chapel at East Lawn Cemetery.
