Minerva Homecoming Parade
Winners of the 93rd annual Minerva Homecoming parade, held June 15, are listed below.
Over 160 entries competed for honors. Grand marshal was Dan Toalston, who was named Minerva’s Person of the Year for his involvement in community events.
-Antique Vehicle: Stauffer Family Firetruck;
-Wrecker: Prendergast Towing;
-Float: Minerva FFA and FFA Alumni;
-Tractor: 1953 Super M and 1950 H owned by Jerry and Cindy Renicker;
-Firetruck: Alliance Fire Dept.;
Best Performing Group: Misty Karlan’s Dance Studio;
Judge’s Choice: Buckeye Corvettes.
The homecoming ran through Saturday evening when raffle item winners were announced.
The rain held off long enough for those watching the parade and participants to return to the Fox Twp. Fireman’s Park in Mechanicstown Thursday evening.
The Town Sound Barbershop Group moved to the covered food pavilion for their performance and the tractor pull was cancelled.
Good weather prevailed and the department had a large turnout for the tractor pulls Friday and Saturday nights.
Parade winners included:
-Best Appearing Truck 750 GPM and over: Carrollton Village Fire Dept.;
-Best Appearing Truck under 750 GPM: Dellroy Volunteer Fire Dept. (VFD) brush truck;
-Best Appearing Emergency Squad: Maple Cotton Ambulance;
-Longest Distance Traveled: Scio VFD;
-Best Renovated Antique Car: Dave and Donna Lumley;
-Best Float: Carroll County Democrat Party;
-Best Appearing Walking Float: Carroll County Warriorettes;
-Judge’s Choice: Carroll County Dairy Princesses;
-Best Decorated Bicycle: Ryan Barnett;
-Best Renovated Tractor: Wilbur George.
