The Northeast Jefferson Food Pantry was named the “2015 Agency of the Year for Carroll County” by the Akron-Canton Regional Foodbank. The award recognizes those who have played a significant role partnering with the Akron-Canton Regional Foodbank.
To be considered for the award, hunger-relief programs need to exhibit excellence in the areas of program and fiscal management, compliance, client service and engagement in Foodbank initiatives.
Ronnie Shockley, director of Northeast Jefferson Food Pantry, received the award. “The team of people from Northeast Jefferson Food Pantry has given talents, enthusiasm and energy to those in need locally,”
Akron-Canton Regional Foodbank representative stated. “Your hard work and dedication continue to make our community the best it can be.” The Food Pantry’s nomination said, “During the Northeast Jefferson Food Pantry’s monthly distribution, everyone is welcomed with a friendly greeting! Through personalized intake and a client focused choice pantry distribution model, the workers resolve to best serve households in the rural corners of Carroll County, in partnership with the Akron-Canton Regional Foodbank. For 24 years, they [pantry] have focused on serving those facing hunger and their community. They go above and beyond and deliver food to homebound clients up to 35 miles away.”
Shockley has been director of the Northeast Jefferson Food Pantry since 1996. He picks up the food at the Foodbank and has around 20 volunteers who assist with the operation of the food pantry including carrying food boxes for clients.
“We are so proud to award the 2015 Carroll County Agency of the Year to Northeast Jefferson Food Pantry,” the Regional Foodbank representative continued. “Thank you for sharing in our feeling that the journey to help others is and will continue to be the true reward.”
