Where better to read a book and enjoy some quality family time than under the lights – the bright lights of Community Field that is.
Officials at Carrollton Schools believe there is no better place than the turf surface and bright lights of the field and are planning the second annual “Reading Is Fun- A Night Under the Lights” to prove it. The event is scheduled Oct. 12 from 6 – 8 p.m. at Community Field, located on SR 332 south of Carrollton.
The fun, family reading and learning event is for students and their families in grades PK – 5 and is sponsored by the school district. The evening will feature a free book for all students, family reading time, fun and free learning themed stations such as make a bookmark, hands-on science, face painting, tour the Bookmobile and an opportunity to meet Junie B. Jones and cookie Mouse; raffle baskets, a celebrity reader, food and drinks.
All proceeds from the raffle baskets and the concession stand will benefit the Reading is Fundamental (RIF) in Carrollton elementary schools. The RIF program provides students with the opportunity to receive a free book at different times throughout the school year.
Those planning to attend should bring a blanket or chairs and their favorite book. Rain date is Oct. 18th from 6-8 p.m.
