Robert L. Brannon, 82, of 2076 Royal Road S.W., Carrollton, died peacefully Monday afternoon, Jan. 11, 2016, in Aultman Hospital in Canton following a six-week illness.
Born Sept. 27, 1933, in rural Mineral City, he was the son of the late Roma and Ocie Ickes Brannon.
Bob retired as a night watchman from the former U.S. Ceramic Tile Company in East Sparta after 47 years service. He held various other jobs during his tenure at U.S. Ceramic. He generally appreciated spending time outdoors, particularly sitting on his porch in the open air. He was very interested in attending as many Newell Auctions as possible. It was a very common sight in the area to see Bob and his wife Esther driving around in their maroon pickup truck.
He is survived by his wife, Esther Umstead Brannon, whom he married Nov. 3, 1952; his son, Robert Brannon of the home; two brothers, Ray (Wanda) Brannon of Dellroy, and Larry Brannon of New Cumberland; his sister, Karen Levengood of Mineral City; a sister-in-law, Mary Baker of New Philadelphia; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers, Dale, Roger, and Russell Franklin Brannon; two sisters, Clairmont Shuman and Marge Shuman; a brother-in-law, Bill Baker; a nephew, Joe Baker; and a niece, Nancy Davis.
Graveside services will be conducted Jan. 15 at 11 a.m. in Union Valley Cemetery in Rose Township near Dellroy with Rev. Kenneth Ogg officiating, with interment to follow.
