Shirley Ann Phillis, 80, of Carroll Court, Carrollton, died in her residence Tuesday evening, Sept. 22, 2015.
Born July 21, 1935, in Canton, she was a daughter of the late Cecelia and Lloyd Nickels.
She was a retiree of Thorne’s IGA where she worked as a meat wrapper.
She was a member of Carroll Chapter Order of Eastern Star #315 where she held the office of a Star Point for many years and was a past worthy matron. She was a member of the Garden Club and Trinity Lutheran Church.
She was married Sept. 26, 1954, to the late Blaine C. Phillis.
She is survived by one daughter, Juanita (Richard) Weals and one son, Joseph (Lisa) Phillis; four grandchildren, Tiffany Stragan, April Miller, Wendy Russell and Kevin Phillis; and eight great grandchildren; a great great grandson; and a sister, Mary Huffman, all of Carrollton.
A memorial service will be held Oct. 3 at 1 p.m. with Rev. Andrew Riggs officiating in Trinity Lutheran Church, 275 N. Lisbon St., Carrollton.
Reception of friends and relatives will be from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. Saturday in the church. Eastern Star services will be held in the church immediately following the memorial service. A luncheon will follow in the church basement.
At Shirley’s request, her body was cremated and burial will follow in North Lawn Cemetery in Canton at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Hospice of Carroll County or Trinity Lutheran Church of Carrollton.
