Kilgore Evangelical Church will begin a 10-week Run for God 5K and 10K Challenge April 3.

Anyone who previously participated in the Run for God program will be excited to know instructors will use Run for God 2nd Edition curriculum, with all new Bible studies and videos. The group will meet in the One Way Youth Center, 100 McCook Ave., Carrollton, every Sunday evening at 6:15 p.m.

Part discipleship study and part 5K and 10K training program, the class helps participants achieve new spiritual and physical goals through a potentially life-changing journey. Participants will spend time in a conversational Scripture study during weekly meetings. The parallels of physical and spiritual endurance are the primary theme. Additionally, a key objective will be learning to use the Run For God experience in personal testimony and witness.

Following time in Scripture and devotion, participants will learn about specific running-related topics each week. The topics include nutrition, proper shoes, injury prevention, music, race etiquette, and more. Workbooks provide detailed information on each topic. The printed material will be supplemented with guest speakers and topical experts. The session will end at 7:15 p.m. followed by a training run and 30-minute workout.
