Luke 1:26-38 tells the beautiful story of the announcement to the virgin maiden named Mary that she would be used by God to be the mother of the promised Messiah.
In verse 32, the angel Gabriel told her she was to call His name Jesus… “He will be great and will be called the Son of the Highest.”
In verse 37, “For with God nothing will be impossible.”
Then verse 38 literally glows with Mary’s faith. She faced overwhelming social pressures because she would be pregnant with Jesus before marrying Joseph. Her humble commitment to God’s will is a model of trust and faith for all of us.
In Matthew 1:18-25, we are told of the story from Joseph’s perspective. Joseph apparently cared very deeply for Mary because he did not do what he could have done. An angel visited him and told him this was all part of God’s plan for the salvation of mankind. So Joseph also reacted with great faith to the message from God and took Mary to be his wife.
