Ward Sheckler, 85, of Minerva, died Thursday, June 16, 2016, at his home.
He retired from PCC in Minerva after 30 years of service. He graduated from Augusta High School in 1948 and was a US Army veteran of the Korean War. He was a member of Minerva First Christian Church and Augusta Lodge #504 F&AM.
He is survived by two sons, Steven (Myra) Sheckler of Minerva, and William (Sheryl) Sheckler of Waynesburg; sister, Evelyn Baker of Augusta; five grandchildren, Matthew, Michael (Brittany), David (Patricia), Nicole (fiancé, Lucas Shipper) and Nancy Sheckler; and two great grandsons, Blake and Austin.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Eleanor (Walker) Sheckler, who died in 2012, and a sister, Helen Pitts.
Funeral services will be Sunday, June 19, at 2 p.m. in Gotschall-Hutchison Funeral Home in Minerva with Chaplain Larry Karlen officiating. Burial will be in Pleasant Grove Cemetery. Calling hours will be Saturday 6-8 p.m. and one hour prior to services in the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to Mercy Hospice.
