United Local 5, CHS Ladies 2 – The Lady Warrior soccer team opened the season at United Local Saturday and fell short 5-2. United’s Lauren Beech opened the game with a pair of early goals before Carrollton’s Micah Donley was able to get down the field and score a goal to bring the Lady Warriors within one goal with 10:19 remaining in the first period. Beech put the ball in the net for a third time during the opening minutes of the second period to put the Eagles up 3-1. Emily Ellyson scored a pair of goals 6 minutes apart to extend United’s lead 5-1. Taylor Keefer, Carrollton junior, scored with
in the last few minutes of the game. Carrollton goalie Diana Luyster had 16 saves for the Warriors. Michaela Sturgeon had 13 saves for the Golden Eagles. The girls are home against Cardinal Mooney Saturday. Game time is at 1 p.m.
United Local 7, CHS Boys 2 – Carrollton dropped the first game of the season during a non-conference match up against United Local 7-2. Carrollton scored first off of a bicycle kick from foreign exchange student Souffiene Al Kadduri with 30:16 remaining in the first period. Carrollton trailed United 2-1 at half time. United Local broke open the close game during the second half outscoring Carrollton 5-1. Kadduri scored Carrollton’s only goal in the second period. Leading United was Mitch Kelly with three goals. Leading the Warriors was Kadduri with two goals. The Warriors will be on the road against Fairless High School this Saturday for a non conference match. Game time is 1 p.m.
